Join our 5-days course to learn all the important aspects of mountaneering, from climbing on crags to maneuvering on glaciers, on via ferratas and multi pitch routes. A chance to get to know the mountain in all its shapes and form.

This course is aimed at all those who want to approach mountain sports. Although no experience is required, good physical condition, strong desire to learn and to get involved are highly recommended!

The course will take place between Arco and the Marmolada glacier (depending on whether and snow conditions).

Alpine mountaineering courses

Course schedule:
 
Day 1: meet your guide in Arco and collect your equipment. The first day is focused on Rock Climbing, with a lesson on a local crag where you'll learn the climbing progression techniques, how to belay your partner and basic knots.

Day 2: learn to tackle Multi-Pitch climbing routes and notice the changes of climbing techniques involved. On completion of today’s activities we will transfer to Passo Fedaia, Dolomites.

Day 3: learn the progression techniques on glacier, the correct use of crampons and ice-ax, and basic first aid training in case of accident. We will then hike up to Punta Rocca.

Day 4: further progression techniques and ascent to Punta Penia along the Via Ferrata route on the west ridge. Descent on the normal route.  

Day 5: learn the correct technique to progress on a Via Ferrata route, which will take place on the Porta Vescovo mountain ridge. Retun to Arco in the late afternoon/ early evening.

Note: the schedule can be modified according to weather and snow conditions.

 

Costs conditions and materials

Cost per person €570

Each Guide can take a maximum of 6 people, except on day 2 when one guide can look after a maximum of 2 people. Additional guides will be joining us.

Included in the fee: the Guide service and expenses, the rental of technical equipment necessary for the activities planned, and the transfers from\to Arco.

Not included in the fee: accommodation on half board basis in local mountain huts (approx €50-60 per person per night), personal expenses, cable-car ticket if necessary, and anything not mentioned in "included".

 

Equipment provided by Mountime: harness, helmet, ferrata set and crampons.
 
Personal equipment: Layered mountain clothing, warm windproof jacket, gloves and hat, trekking boots (preferably compatible to crampons), backpack with water, energy food, change of clothes for overnight stays and toiletries.
